Dal is a preparation of pulses (dried lentils, peas or beans) which have been stripped of their outer hulls and split.The word dal derives from the Sanskrit verbal root dal- 'to split'.Dal is a ready source of proteins for a balanced diet

  • Arhar dal-1bowl
  • Water-2bowl
  • Haldi-1tsp
  • Tomato-chopped-1
  • Salt-as per taste

For tadka-

  • Oil-1tbsp
  • Onion-1/2 chopped
  • Garlic Paste-1tsp
  • Hing-1pinch
  • Mustard Seeds-1tsp
  • Haldi-1tsp
  • Mirchi powder-1/2tsp
  • Coriander powder-1/2tsp
  • Coriander leaves-chopped to garnish


1)Put dal +water+haldi powder+salt+tomato in a cooker and close the lid wait for 3-4 whistle
2)Take out the whistle properly let it cool take the dal out and ready for tadka
3)Pour oil in a kadai add mustard seeds wait to sputter than put hing,onion,all spices and a tomato from cooked dal after they get fried properly pour all dal from cooker into this ,garnisg it with coriander leaves.
4)Serve hot with roti,rice any of your favourites
